Using Fairy-Tale Readers' Theater in the classroom can become a powerful teaching tool for helping children increase fluency, reading comprehension, listening, writing, and social skills, and can improve the self-confidence of reluctant and struggling readers. The teacher guides and the “laugh-out-loud” scripts provided in this reproducible book offer many rich and varied experiences.

Every fairy tale can become an “entire class production.” Included in each script are lines written as “group readings.” These reading are excellent for shy children, English language learners, and struggling readers. Reading along with a group can help these children feel more self-confident while increasing oral language, sight word recognition skills, and fluency.

Every fairy tale can also become a “small group production” by simply eliminating the group readings. Make a single copy of the script, “white-out” the group reading lines and then, copy the edited script for the remaining story characters. Eliminating the “group readings” will not detract from the content of the original story.

Everything a teacher needs is included for creating successful Readers’ Theater classroom experiences: laugh-out-loud scripts; reproducible props and patterns; optional costume and set suggestions; fairy-tale literature lists for each script; vocabulary lists for each fairy tale; activities to increase fluency; enrichment activities to improve comprehension and word study skills; and, an exciting sound effects CD, featuring 7 to 14 great music and sound effects for each story.
